Newell family papers
Miscellaneous papers of the family, particularly those of Leone B. Newell, a Charlotte physician. Includes certificates, correspondence, genealogical materials, a household inventory (1916), newspaper clippings, photographs, notes and miscellaneous receipts.
Eugene Payne cartoons
Original cartoons by an editorial cartoonist for The Charlotte Observer (1958-1971, returning in 1978) and WSOC-TV (1971-1978). Includes reprints of his 1968 Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoons.
J. Kenneth Sanford papers
The J. Kenneth Sanford papers consist almost entirely of his rough drafts that eventually formed his book "Charlotte and UNC Charlotte: Growing Up Together." The collection also contains some of the photographs that Sanford used to illustrate his book. This book was published in 1996.
George K. Selden papers
Primarily demographic studies conducted as a volunteer and paid consultant for such organizations as the Boy Scouts of America, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and Health and Hospital Council. Also contains a small amount of material relating to his work as State Forecast and Rate Supervisor for Southern Bell and his service as a member of the Charlotte City Council (1977-83).
Martha A. Strawn course materials
The collection contains photographs and written reports that resulted from course assignments in the UNC Charlotte Art Department between 1981 and 2002.
