Scope and Contents
This collection consists of annual reports and minutes from various units within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The records are arranged in four series that contain the College’s annual reports (1973-1980); departmental chairmen minutes (1970-1980); department minutes from the departments of Geography and Geology (1970-1971), Geography and Earth Science (1972-1980), Political Science (1970-1976), and Sociology and Anthropology (1973-1974); and faculty minutes (1969-1980).
Not included are records after the College joined with two other colleges to become the College of Arts and Sciences. For more information, see the Administrative History Note, and for records after 1980, see the Related Materials Note.

Administrative History
What was the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at UNC Charlotte in 1968 became the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences in 1971, at which time it included the departments of Geography and Geology, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. In 1980, the College was merged with the College of Humanities and the College of Science and Mathematics to become the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2008 structural changes occurred again, and the College of Arts and Sciences became the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
