Administrative History
In 1977 the Office of Academic Grants and Contracts was a unit of Academic Affairs. The office was led by J. Barry Lesley until 1983-84. He was replaced by Lucy Henry who directed the office until 1998-99.
In 1980-81, under Chancellor Fretwell, the office was moved out of Academic Affairs and into the newly created Division of Research and Public Service in an effort to bring together all of the units that were involved in community outreach. In 1984-85 the division's name was changed to the Division of Development and Public Service. In 1993, under Chancellor Dubois, the office was moved back under Academic Affairs and its name was changed to the Office of Research. As of 2022, the official title of the office is the Office of Grants and Contracts Administration. It is a part of Research and Economic Development in the Division of Academic Affairs.
