Administrative History
The Department of Software and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has its origins in the School of Information Technology, which began in 1997-1998 as part of the William States Lee College of Engineering. In 2000, the School of Information Technology left the College of Engineering to become the College of Information Technology, encompassing the department of Computer Science and the new Department of Software and Information Systems. In 2006, the College of Information Technology became the College of Computing and Informatics.
