This collection consists of nine files of records from the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Administrative History
The Department of Mathematics has existed at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte since the university’s inclusion in the UNC System in 1965. In 2005, the department changed its name to Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
Organizationally, by 1968, the department was part of the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and remained so until 1971 when the academic structure shifted from divisions to colleges. At this time, the Department of Mathematics became part of the College of Science and Mathematics, which later merged with the College of Humanities and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences to become the College of Arts and Sciences in 1980. Structural changes occurred once again in 2008, and the College of Arts and Sciences became the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
