Administrative History

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology began around 1972 as the Law Enforcement and Administration program within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. By fall 1976, it was known as the Criminal Justice program, and in 1980 it became the Department of Criminal Justice within the newly formed College of Arts and Sciences. In 2008, the department’s parent college became the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and in April 2009 the department name was changed to Criminal Justice and Criminology.
