Scope and Contents
This collection consists of programs for UNC Charlotte's annual convocation (later, referred to as university convocation and general faculty meeting) as well as some transcripts of speeches given at this event.
It only includes materials for UNC Charlotte convocations. It does not include programs for the following years: 1969, 1971-1975, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2010.
Charlotte College convocation records can be found in Charlotte College Records (UA0034).

Biographical / Historical
Faculty and staff convocation typically features addresses by the chancellor, the provost, the faculty council president and the president of the student government association. The staff council president also addresses the audience. These speeches are intended to update the campus community on the university's goals for the year, provide updates on campus long-range planning efforts, highlight accomplishments from the previous year, and address faculty and staff concerns. It is also an opportunity to welcome new faculty and EHRA staff members, recognize faculty members with 25 years of service, and congratulate individuals who were awarded full tenure in the previous academic year.
