Scope and Contents
This collection contains maps primarily of the Charlotte and Mecklenburg county region with a few maps of North Carolina and other areas of the United States. It includes historic Charlotte neighborhoods, aerial maps, folk art and historic North Carolina maps. There are also some maps of other states, particularly in the Northeast and Midwest. Finally, there are a few maps of different regions of Africa.

Contains maps of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries with a few earlier maps. Consists of historic neighborhood maps of Charlotte, aerial maps, folk art maps and tax and government maps. Also includes historic North Carolina maps and topographic maps of areas throughout the state, particularly western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.
The collection is arranged into the following 20 series: Mecklenburg County (18th-19th centuries) Mecklenburg County (20th century), Aerial Maps, Maps published as posters, folk art and promotional materials, University area of Charlotte, Uptown Charlotte maps, Charlotte and Mecklenburg County street maps, Charlotte Election/Voting, Zoning, Census, Tax and Government maps, Bus, cycling and mass transit, Historic Charlotte maps, Neighborhood and property maps, Charlotte metropolitan area, North Carolina counties and cities, North Carolina highway and transportation maps, Historic North Carolina maps, United States, Africa, Topographic Maps, Popular Maps and Assorted Maps.
