Biographical Note

Joseph Free Grady was in the buildling business in Charlotte, North Carolina in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Grady was born in Burke County, NC in 1851. He was married to Ann Eliza Puckett and they had 6 children: Flora, Boyd, Mamie, Fair, Edith, and Ernest. Grady died in Charlotte, NC in 1929 and is buried in Oaklawn Cemetary.

The collection is from the estate of Ernest Grady, Jr. and was donated by Enid Grady Stevens in July 2015.
