Biographical / Historical

The Symphony Guild of Charlotte was founded in 1950 as the Charlotte Symphony Women's Association. The Guild has grown steadily in size, scope, and support to the Charlotte Symphony and the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras over the years. The Guild has initiated and sustained many award-winning youth music education projects since its inception. The goal of the organization is to create, develop, and promote an interest in symphonic music in the Charlotte and the surrounding metropolitan area. The mission is to promote financial and volunteer support to the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra Society, Inc., the Charlotte youth symphonies and symphonic educational activities. The Guild is not just a fundraising organization, however, as demonstrated in their youth music education programs which include the Youth Festival, Youth Orchestra Summer Camp, Young Artists Competition, Master Class, School Concerts, Lollipops Concerts, and the popular Musical Petting Zoo.
