Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised primarily of items documenting Knox's service as mayor of Charlotte from 1979 to 1983. There are no records documenting his service as a state senator or his professional career as a lawyer. A small amount of material relates to Knox's gubernatorial campaign in 1984. Knox's mayoral papers reflect a period in which the office of mayor became a high profile position.
