From the Collection:

The collection consists of 37 photographic slides depicting historic scenes in Mecklenburg County, NC, and posters celebrating Charlotte and Mecklenburg County's bicentennial in 1968--produced by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Some of the posters date as late as 1978.

Shows the conditions in Mecklenburg County, NC, during the period 1762-1800 and makes Mecklenburg's history more real to those living within its boundaries. Pictures famous incidents which have occured in Mecklenburg.

Related Materials

Preparation of these slides was made over a period of years by the students of American History under the direction of Jessie Rankin, teacher at Central High School and Myers Park High School. The art work was done by students of Miss Katharine Sledge and Mr. Theodore Matus. The project was sponsored by Mrs. E. McA. Currie and the American Trust Company.
