Scope and Contents From the Collection:

As part of course work in a UNC Charlotte class on the History of the English Language, students were given letters and journals to transcribe from various manuscript collections located in Special Collections, Atkins Library. Handwriting, phrases used in the 19th century, and other aspects were examined. Papers from the following collections were assigned: Pharr and Walker Family Papers (MS0197), Tate and Wilson Family Papers (MS0196), and Wilkes Family Papers (MS0038).
